What an amazing week in Year 3! The children have been working hard and showing great commitment to their learning.
In our writing this week, we have been exploring the poems ‘The Voice’ and ‘Your Voice Counts’ to celebrate National Poetry Day. We have been exploring the theme of counting on each other and counting on ourselves. Using the inspiration of the poems, the children have created their own counting poems. We have attached a few for you to enjoy below.
We have continued to learn about place value of two and three-digit numbers in Maths. We can compare and order the numbers using our knowledge of the value of each digit in these numbers.
For RE this week, it was so lovely to take the children up to St. James’ Church to enjoy a fantastic Harvest service from Reverend Mark. Many thanks to those who volunteered to help us walk the children up to the Church.
We look forward to meeting with parents and carers to share all the progress your child has made so far this year.
Best wishes for the week ahead.

What a fantastic start to Year 3! The children have settled into their new classrooms and continue to show a great attitude to our new Key Stage 2 routines. There has been such a lot of learning already!
In our writing lessons, we have started to use ‘a’ or ‘an’ correctly before a noun, e.g. ‘an elegant ballerina,’ ‘a shooting star.’ We have been using our core text, Leon and the Place Between and the children have been busy applying this target in their magical carousel descriptions.
We have continued to learn about place value of two and three-digit numbers in Maths. We can explain the value of each digit in these numbers and how to write three-digit numbers in words.
In RE, we worked together to create detailed visualisations about all that is wonderful in the world before reading the start of Genesis in our Children’s Bible. We are looking forward to exploring the question: ‘What do Christians learn from the Creation story?’
Our fascinating Stone Age History topic has started. We have loved reading lots of related non-fiction texts, such as on Stonehenge and have placed events into chronological order to make a historical timeline.
It was lovely to welcome many families into our classes this week for our ‘Meet the Teacher’ session. We are very excited about the year ahead and thank you for your support.
Best wishes for the weekend.
